Sedona is one of the most sacred wedding sites in the
world, with a strong undercurrent of love that anchors the beauty in
your hearts. The juniper and pinon forests cradle the beautiful red
rocks in a sea of green and fragrance. Native Americans came here to
anoint the chiefs and to heal the sick. The energy was so powerful they
felt it should be used sparingly. Today, now that we are ready to accept
this ancient powerful energy, grace seems to emanate from the red rocks
directly into our hearts. In this divine energy of acceptance, your
marriage can start with all the strength and blessings you deserve.

Wedding Style and Vision
The first decision to make is what style or feeling do
you want the wedding to have? This will guide your decisions on almost
everything else. If you and your fiance are both in love with Hawaii,
how about a luau style wedding? Or if you fell in love while skiing,
how about a winter wedding with a white faux fur jacket over your dress,
and fondue as one of the food choices.
Budget
Be rational and logical here; be really honest about what
you can afford and make it work. If you do the math and stay with that
number, you will be so much happier when the wedding is over. If your
budget is small, make it work by being creative. Some of the most beautiful
weddings are the simplest ones – it is all about the love, not
about anything else.

Consultant or Couple-Made Wedding?
If you are having more than 25 people, you may need a
wedding planner. If you are having more than 50, you should have one
unless your wedding will be very simple and informal.
The Perfect Sedona Wedding Location
You need a venue that will fit in with your theme and
with your budget too. (Keep in mind any rental items needed and add
them to the budget. The site may not be such a bargain if you have to
pay hundreds of dollars to rent chairs, etc.)
Your Sedona Wedding Officiant / Celebrant
This is a very important decision. As you know, your minister
is the person who sets the tone for the entire wedding ceremony and
guides you in the choice of words you say to each other. The ceremony
is your promise to each other about the rest of your life. Be sure the
words say what you intend and the person saying them gives them beauty
and grace.

Attendants
Keep the numbers as small as possible and remember, you
may not keep your friends all your life, but your family is yours for
always. Keep family at the top of your list; you won't be sorry.
Guest List
Do the budget first and then the guest list. Unless there
is a very good reason, each side gets half the guest list. Be fair.
Remember, your partner's family will remember always how they are treated
at the wedding.
Rings
Here is another place to be reasonable. You can always
buy a larger diamond for an anniversary later.

Bride's Dress, Hair and Makeup
We have some good local stores for wedding gowns if you're
having a simple wedding here in Sedona. We can also recommend hair and
makeup artists. Call us!

Groom's Attire
Let him be comfortable with what he wears. You love this
man so he can look his best and still be comfy.
Food and Drink
Let ideas bloom here; food takes imagination and a creative
heart. Your friend or relative who is the 'foodie' could help you here,
with ideas and especially at the caterer's tasting day.

Gifts and Registry
Choose one or two stores that fit your lifestyle and keep
the list comprehensive but don't go crazy. It is better to list things
you really want than to later have a housefull of 'stuff' that isn't
you.
Music and Entertainment
Let the music fit the wedding style. One guitar, or a
DJ with speakers blaring; let it fit you and your style. Dancing? Make
it a mix and include music for the age groups who will be attending.
Attendants' Attire
Keep the dresses simple and let the bride shine. The colors
can be stunning but keep the style elegant and easy to flatter all body
types
Photography and Video
We
can recommend the best local vendors for your wedding. Call and talk
to us about date, time and we can steer you to the person you need.
Flowers and Décor
Again, make it simple and creative. You can use anything
from smiley faces to orchids and it is always best if it fits your personality.
Honeymoon
Go somewhere where you can be close, intimate and make
beautiful memories for all your life. If you like activity, that is
terrific, but be sure to save time to talk, make love often and to take
lots of photos.
Your Life Together
Be sure you talk through your expectations in the areas
of finance, sex, family (including children) and how your home runs.
If you would like help planning your wonderful new life, Rev. Kate does
special premarital counseling if she is doing your wedding. Of course,
counseling is optional and is a little extra.
